Racing heats up

This is the day when Bike Week unofficially becomes Speed Week, with the AMA Superbike classes hitting the Speedway for practice and qualifying.

This morning, Superstock and Supersport bikes go out for practice, followed by Superbike and Formula Xtreme. After lunch, things get even more serious with qualifying in Superstock and Supersport. Follow it on www.amasuperbike.com.

This evening, the Ford Quality Checked Flat Track Championship Short Track series kicks off the 2007 season when the fastest flat-trackers in the world line up at the famed Daytona Municipal Stadium. The short-track course will feature the AMA GNC Singles bikes.

Racing isn't the only thing going on, of course.

If classic bikes are more you thing, there's the Daytona Antique and Classic Motorcycle Auction, Trade Show and Swap Meet featuring J. Wood and Co. at the Edmunds Center, Stetson University in De Land. The auction lasts until 6 p.m. this evening.

For your custom fix, you could hit the Harley-Davidson Ride-in Show at the Ocean Center Arena. Awards will be handed out at 4 p.m.

For a full slate of what's going on, check out our Daytona calendar.
