Advisory Committee:
Track Racing Committee
Chapter: 3
Section: 3.1
Paragraph: 9
Page: 83
Proposal Number: 46
Submitted by: AMA Staff
District:
Congress Decision: Amended
Proposal:
Replace #9 with new wording:
Request effective 2010 rulebook any rider holding a professional license is NOT eligible to race in any amateur class except the A class. In a case where organizers are running a Sportsman A/B class, there are to be no Pro riders eligible due to the fact that B riders are entered.
2010
Reason for proposal:
If organizers want to allow Pro riders to ride in Sportsman class they must define it as Sportsman A/Pro. As per the 2009 rulebook, A's, B's and Pros cannot be difined within the same race. (the definitions are Sportsman A/B No Pro or Sportman A/Pro).
In past years through 2008, Pro sports classifications were addressed in the AMA amateur rulebook. With the sale of AMA Pro Racing, all terminology of Pro Sport is gone. AMA Pro Racing classifies their riders as Pro and Expert.
If organizers continue to allow A's, B's and Pros to compete together, they will be in violation of their sanction and insurance.
