2009 AMA Congress Competition Proposal

Proposal:

Once the checkered flag is displayed, riders are given a reasonable amount of time to complete their current lap.

Reason for proposal:

This wording was interpreted incorrectly by a promoter. There was a four lap race and he made everybody go four laps, even if they had only completed two when the first overall had finished four laps. It was stated to be a four lap race. So he considered the final lap to be the fourth lap. This caused problems for the races, the district official and the AMA. By changing the word "final" to "current" it will eliminate this twisting of the rule.
